They are available on CD, but not, I believe, on line. If you had access to the Slingshot archive (The Journal of the Society of Ancients) I could point you to the discussions where the issue was hammered out. This issue has been hammered out over 45 years of tabletop Ancient/Medieval wargames rules design, and rules attempting to be historical, such as those published by the Wargames Research Group, stopped allowing one unit to shoot over another (except from higher ground) 40 years ago! Difficult to hit a target when even your officers can't see the target. I think the problem is likely to be one of fire control. Massed archers did not shoot over the heads of other units. They were (at least temporarily) part of the same formation as the men in front. True, but these were only one or two rank of archers, and seem to have been there to help repel enemy charges (as in "Arrian's Order of Battle Against the Alans") rather than lay down a sustained fire. I don´t see why longbowmen could not do it. S3f files these units will not work in the Editor. To give graphical variety to the many different units of billmen, spearmen, archers etc, I have had to clone several of the existing units.
For this reason I have also included Early Tudor, Richard III, and Yorkist Pretender armies. In addition to the main campaign, the armies can be used for one off battles in Skirmish mode. The campaign starts in Late Spring 1455 (subsequent years are the usual 6 turns) and can be played as either Yorkist or Lancastrian. The Field of Glory Wars of the Roses English Army list (from the Storm of Arrows booklet) were used as the basis for the army lists I have created for the campaign. I have adapted the standard Pike and Shot Campaigns ECW campaign for this conflict. Just to let everyone know my Wars of the Roses campaign is now available to download within the game.
